What is a solar power optimiser?
A solar optimiser, also known as a power optimiser for solar panels, is a module-level power electronic device installed on the DC side between an individual solar panel and a compatible central inverter.
Attached to each panel, these DC-to-DC converters perform Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) at module level and condition the panel’s DC output to support overall system performance.
This allows each panel to operate independently while still feeding into a single central inverter, helping maximise energy harvest in systems affected by shading, different roof orientations, soiling or module mismatch.
