A solar microinverter converts DC electricity into AC power close to one or more solar panels. Models with independent MPPT allow connected modules to operate separately, helping reduce losses from shading, different orientations and module mismatch.

Single, Dual and Multi-Module Microinverters
Single-module models manage one solar panel independently. Dual-module models connect two panels and may provide a separate MPPT for each input, while multi-module models support several panels with fewer inverter units and AC connections.
The number of panel inputs does not necessarily equal the number of independent MPPT channels, so this varies by model and manufacturer.
