Due to the fact that direct current doesn’t fluctuate like A/C, any switch within a D/C circuit needs to break the circuit cleanly and rapidly. This reduces arching which can damage the switch and shorten it’s life and potentially be a fire risk. Therefore the design of the switch needs to be different to that of an A/C switch.
Santon manufacture one of the few true D/C isolators currently on the market, others passing off de-rated A/C isolators as D/C. Although these will isolate when switched they will suffer from all the problems mentioned above. This is why we only stock Santon products as we believe they are one of the best on the market.

The new Santon X-type switch is optimised to meet a number of standard electrical specifications. The switching range is from 10 Amp through to 60 Amp, with operational voltages from 500 Volt through to 1,000 Volt.
